Training in the Evenings

With the long summer days, why not take your training in the evenings, when the roads are quieter – a perfect opportunity to blow away some of office blues with approximately two hours of training time out on the bike. We ran some very successful evening courses last year, to take advantage of the late evening sun, so why not book yourself evening training for this summer?

Dates available in from MAY to SEPTEMBER!

With no mid-ride lunch break needed, our day-long courses can be split over sessions approximately two hours long. Our One Day courses can be split over two 2-hour sessions (we don’t need to stop for lunch!) and our Two Day courses over four 2-hour sessions. We can also run our short 2 hour training courses including the ‘Bends Basics’ course in the evening.

Start times are flexible between 5.00pm and 7.00pm, with the latest finish time at around about 9.00pm in June and approximately 7:30pm in April and September.

There’s plenty of availability in Buckinghamshire / NW London and Oxford, limited availability in Kent and Oxford. Contact us for full details.

Check out the website http://www.survivalskills.co.uk for more information on the courses. Bring a partner or a mate and get a 50% discount for the 2nd person if you do the course 2:1!

Night Riding course

Planning on riding all year? Then get your night riding skills up to scratch! That can be particularly useful if you’re a new rider who’s passed the bike test in the summer!

“What a brilliant idea!”
Jim Newman, Somerset Road Safety Partnership

These courses start in daylight and use the transition through twilight to full night, to allow us to adapt to the changing light levels and get used to using the very different perspective offered by what we can see using only the bike’s headlight!

We can run these courses every month from March to October but a great time to take them is in late September or October before the clocks go back for the winter, and plunge us all into an early darkness in the evening! Start times will vary depending on sunset. Finish will be approximately two hours later.

“WE COME TO YOU” – training delivered to your door

If you can’t reach any of our training locations or can’t afford the time off to travel to one of our “Tour” locations, we can also offer “WE COME TO YOU” training bringing our Survival Skills courses to your own home town. The only stipulation is that it’s within 250 miles of NW London.

We don’t charge for travelling time, just for the fuel costs to reach you at a rate of £17.50 per 100 miles – so if we have to travel 150 miles to reach you and then another 150 to get back to Kent, the fuel charge would be £52.50. There is a minimum of one day’s training.

Survival Skills “ON TOUR”

Once or twice a year at no extra cost, we take our training ‘On Tour’ to places such as mid-WALES, PEAK DISTRICT and DEVON. Great roads and great scenery make for great riding and great learning. Check with us for details of the next trip and location!

Great Escape 2/3 day courses

If you spend virtually all your life riding round the cities or the crowded parts of the UK, and wish you could find some great roads for riding, then our midweek “Great Escape” courses are an opportunity to escape to Wales for some great motorcycling.

More information on the Survival Skills website

At the same time we include the content of our ‘Performance – Bends’ one day course on perfect roads for you to practice the skills you learn on the course to the full.

CHECK WITH US FOR DATES!

The emphasis on this course is enjoying the roads as much as the training, and our carefully planned route to mid-Wales starts near Oxford (just over an hour from central London) over brunch, then follows a selection of excellent twisty B roads through the Cotwolds and the hills of Worcestershire and Shropshire, stopping for afternoon tea in Tenbury Wells, before arriving in the early evening in Montgomery in the Welsh borders.

If you opt for the two day adventure, we’ll check out next morning then  head down towards Llanbister and Presteigne before returning to England and more great roads back to Oxford in the early evening for a final debrief. Over the course of the two days, you’ll discover how to plan your lines round bends, how to position the bike for best advantage whilst not neglecting safety, how to read corners so you’re not surprised plus the all-important machine control issues. You’ll be covering around 250 miles in total.

Choose the three day adventure, and our second day’s riding will take us deep into the Cambrian Mountains, stopping at Devil’s Bridge for lunch before returning via the Elan Valley mountain road. We’ll cover additional riding techniques specific to narrow mountain roads, hairpin bends and steep climbs and descents.

Accommodation is in a comfortable, mid-priced hotel, with good food and wine on offer, as well as some excellent real ale for the beer drinkers, with the evenings set aside for plenty of informal post-riding chat.

2 Day / £515 + one night’s accommodation*
3 Day / £795 + two night’s accommodation*

These courses are priced PER COURSE and can be run for either 1 or 2 people, so bring a friend or a partner and split the cost between you?

IMPORTANT:
Please note this will be a mid-week course, and will not run in late July/August/early September to avoid peak tourist bookings and weekend traffic.
